So, having seen the story about six times on various news services today, how did people cope with the blackout up there? Obviously past tense, since you can't actually answer until the power's back up. I've heard a lot about New York, but how are things in Toronto and elsewhere?

Sidenote: I am so bored. Boredboredbored. I so suck at keeping myself company. This damn virus better be gone by Monday, otherwise something drastic is going to happen.

And no, it isn't gone yet. I'm living off one and a half meals a day and a lot of water.

It was pretty tricky getting around in Toronto. Every intersection was like a four-way stop (or rather a stutter stop and go and stop and g-g-g-go). But we’re a pretty polite group; very few accidents and an almost exaggerated sense of courtesy can be felt on every street.

Not having air conditioning over night was not fun, but we did have a very slight breeze.

It’s was kind of odd not having access to the internet or TV. Even with phone service I felt kind of cut off from the world.

For the first time ever, I could see the kind of stars in the sky that’s only possible way out in the country.

All-in-all it hasn’t been too bad.

(get well soon)

I'll drop those Tanya Huff books I was telling you about around tommorow or later today if you'd like.

It won't do much for the boredom, but they're funny and it's something to read.

i am a freak or creative :) get enough tea lights together and you can cook dinner for yourself with a wok :) last night was terribly boring but today was OK. went to north york center to see sachimi and to find food. lucky there are a bunch of pizza places that have gas or wooden ovens. i did not want to eat street meat so... it was worth the walk. had pizza, wine, and corona to pass the afternoon in style :) had two japanese girls over so it was nice :) my power came back at 2pm... baked rhubarb betty... drank... some of my freezer meat is getting file 13ed but... saw stars in TO which was nice.
