I do appreciate it, mate. The reason why I've been honing my technique is because I'm not confident with interviews. I don't come across as confident in my abilities. Hence the practicing.
The other part is the fact I'm working for the public service. The interview technique is different to ordinary corporations, because all the candidates have the qualifications and skills from working in the courts for about the same amount of time. Peter, when he called me, told me I'd done well in answering three of the key selection criteria during the interview, but not so well in the other two. You sit there and they ask you one question per criteria, and you're expected to get it right first time - there's no second chance. And the questions are frequently the same, as are the criteria - the whole thing is _structured_ to test not your ability, but your interview technique. It makes me so mad, but then again, who else is going to hire a 33 year old court clerk with no other experience and only basic typing skills? No-one, because I've already tried that. I can't even get interviews for those. It's public service or nothing, by the looks of it, at least until I can get the money together to do some more training. Only I don't have the money because I'm a level 2 public servant and I'm living on my own and I just don't have it.
*sighs* I'll be okay, just feeling sorry for myself. Gonna go to this Saints and Sinners party tonight and forget about work and interviews and the whole thing and then come Monday I'll go back, do my job, meet Peter for this feedback session, and try again.
