Man, talk about a long day. We didn't get our mail this morning, and thus we didn't get any work. Which means we've had nothing much at all to do all day. Still, I managed to print out a bunch of prospective abodes to check out on Saturday, both one and two bedroom apartments since [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] is still job searching and I need a safety net to fall back on should she be unsuccessful. There's a couple of places that look quite good, although none as good as the one bedroom apartment in the block with a swimming pool for use by the residents for $150 per week that I spotted three weeks ago. Gone now, of course. *wistful sigh*

The other part of the super-stretchy-long day is the fact I didn't get to bed until 3am this morning and got up at 7.30am. Yes, I know I said I wouldn't play up, but a bunch of us went to the Public Bar Hotel after dinner and I was having too much fun talking and laughing and, yes, drinking. It was the first time I've really relaxed in the last couple of weeks: no money issues, nothing to organise, just hanging out with a bunch of people I'm incredibly comfortable with. In some ways the karate folks are like my ficcer "tribe" - there's a sense that even if we don't see each other for weeks or months, or even years, we can just pick up where we left off.

Not to say I didn't have a good time at Auscon; it was just knowing I was the one organising everything meant I couldn't really relax, because I had to be on call, so to speak. At least during the day - those evening sessions with Amanda and Phil and Seraph and Bounce and Blinky were my downtime. And at camp I was too worried about my money issues to really relax either.

So yeah, relaxed Rossi is a happy Rossi. And a tired Rossi, who forgets to bring her passport into work and so must do so tomorrow in order to pick up her plane tickets. :P I'll drop in on my way back from the Blood Bank; it usually takes a while to bleed me, so it won't matter if I'm an extra fifteen minutes.

I've been reading the various [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] subsidiaries and individual journals today, distracting myself from the lack of work. I really hope they approve my application - it could be a whole lot of fun and I'm getting quite enthused about it. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], you can stop gloating now. *grins*

Hmm, twenty minutes to go. Time for another bottle of water before I ride home. And can I say thank goodness the weather's broken a bit? Hot I can deal with, but the last few days have been sticky.
