Caveat: In ten plus years of cycling in the city, this is the second accident I've been in. So cycling is _not_ as dangerous as people seem to think.
As for what happened... The place where it happened is not the best intersection in the world - Barkly St feeds into a four lane highway with a sort of slipway kind of thing. There's a bike lane in the middle, which is where I was. The bloke claims he just didn't see me, and pulled across in front of/into me. Definitely not my fault, very likely him not taking enough care to look.
