A moment of silence
Nov. 12th, 2004 07:14 pmLast night there was a fire at the Lombard's paper factory. Unfortunately it also took with it Victoria Ranges, the climbing gym Phil and I frequent - we were planning to go after work today, in fact.
It was the first climbing gym I ever went to. They'll rebuild, I think, but in the meantime, I mourn. And schlep out to bloody Nunawading to climb there tomorrow morning.

Date: 2004-11-12 11:19 pm (UTC)Though, in only-somewhat-related-news, the squeeze got me the rest of my birthday present when he came to visit - a book on climbing technique. Along with the whole having of someone to go climbing with when I return, I now have many drills to practice to improve my technique. This is of the happy. First practice - quiet feet. It's when you have to make sure your little feetsies make no noise when you put them on the hold. It's good for me because I tend to be a bit dodgy with getting set on a hold and being careful when moving, so I am now with the quiet feet. The squeeze will be with the doing of the straight arms, because he tends to pull himself up the wall with main strength, so he needs to work on using his legs more.
We will fall off the walls a lot, methinks *g*.
