Pat Rafter made it to the tennis finals in Wimbeldon, losing to the Croat (I'm not going to spell his name!), but losing with dignity.
Goran Ivanisevic, baby :) Sexy Goran the Croatian #2 (he can never overtake Goran Vijsnic). And, yeah, Pat was ultra-dignified. I don't think he has an undignified bone in his body, poor boy. It's a shame he's retiring, but he has his reasons. (He could've won next year.)
Incidentally, I saw most of the third set in the Student Travel Association shop in London, while I was being served by an Aussie woman. Poor girl had been told not to go in to work that day if Rafter won (expecting the game to be played on Sunday). And they were half-expecting Henman to be the competition (Rafter would've thrashed him). That's completely bytheby, though.
I think Australia can still consider itself the greatest sporting nation on Earth right now :) You're great and we're jealous ::grin::
