Resolutions.
Jul. 22nd, 2001 11:59 amI'm pleased to say, despite the angst of my previous post, that things on the Duke-Out have resolved - astonishingly well, considering some of the arguments the board has seen. *grins* Guess Murphy (of Murphy's Law) wanted to see me put my foot in my mouth once more. ;) Ignore the previous post, if you will.
I've been doing housey things with mum and dad this morning - I had to forego the usual coffee session after the Veggie Club dinner last night because I had an early start to make. They've headed off now, and I'm planning to sort out the rest of my packing before heading over to my grandparents' place for afternoon tea.
Morning and afternoon tea is a family tradition, as much as we have them. When we were living on the farm whilst I was in high school, my grandparents lived just down the road, and on weekends, at 11am, we'd head down there for a break from whatever work was being done and a cuppa and a bikkie. Afternoon tea was at four, which was the time the school bus dropped my brother and I off - at my grandparents' place. So we'd go in for, yes, you guessed it, a cuppa and a bikkie. Cake, if Nana had felt like cooking. Anyway, it was always a good time, talking over stuff and being fussed over and trying to melt marshmallows onto plain bikkies in the microwave. Even now, tea has the effect of calming me down, rather than hyping me up, because of the emotional associations I have with it.
Dinner at Mum and Dad's tonight - Dad's booked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon from the video place for afters. I'm not sure if Mum will like it, but Dad will. He and I have similar tastes in movies - one of these days I'll have to get him to watch Dark City with me. *grins* I'm doing the rounds of the relatives here before I go, since I'll be away for three weeks. And it's been a while since I spent any time with Mum and Dad. I've been letting things cool down after telling them about the breakup. Honestly, Mum's taking it harder than I am - it's like she's been jilted, not me.
Plans to see Yasmin and hopefully Andraste on Thursday, which is good. I've given them a bit more notice than last time *rolls eyes* so hopefully it won't be quite so scattered this time. I also want to go to the Victoria Market - Michael has work, so I'll just get p when he does and head down early. Maybe hit the comic shop too - Midnight Nation #8 wasn't there last week, so better luck this time.
Off to finish packing - got CDs to sort out, for a start. Once I know what I'm taking, I'll mail Mel with my lisit so she knows what I have. *chuckles evilly and rubs hands together gleefully* We're plotting a mass-exposure to Aussie music for those staying at the hostel. Provided her borther's speakers fit my CD player.
BTW, have I mentioned how cool this Lightning Seeds CD is? I got it last week at the second hand place for $18 and it kicks arse.
