The first time always makes me antsy. Think of it like an interview. You're interviewing the therapist as much as they're interviewing you. You want to make sure it's a good fit. They're there to provide you a service. You should get the best service you can.

Knowing where it is is good. I always try and find out exactly where it is, how to get there, and the nearest pastry/coffee shop. I use Mapquest to find one. I usually like something afterward. Some of the Second Cups sell these amazing chocolate tarts that are gooey in the middle. One of those and a large latte usually helps. So does a bathroom. (I have no idea why I always have to pee 5 minutes AFTER I get out of the building.) It's really nice to establish a pattern around the appointment and it never hurts to start early. Also, it's nice if you want to get there early to have a place to sit and read.
