deathpixieI was travelling abroad, staying in hostels and the like. One night, I ran into a bunch of Australians - as you do. There were drinks and stories and jokes, a good time being had by all. Then an American guy wandered over, with that definite "on the prowl" gleam in his eye.
"So, you're from Australia?" he asked the girl I'd been talking to. She nodded.
"Sydney," she replied. "I'm working in Vancouver as a nurse for a bit."
"I heard," he said, leaning a little closer to her. "That everything in Australia is poisonous."
She looked at me, eyebrows raised just a little. Then she turned back to him and leaned forward, meeting his eyes and said, utterly seriously:
"Including the women."
