I'm thinking that they were trying to sneak into North Korea as well. I'm also thinking that the owners of that media outlet told them to do that, because it would be daring and a great story. I'm thinking when they got caught, Al Gore said "oh crap" and called every friend he had in order to get them out. I'm thinking 12 years of hard labor wouldn't be outrageous. The US would do the same thing to hostile spies they captured.
