I love his movies, but particularly Planes Train & Automobiles. The scene where Steve Martin's character realised that John Candy's wife has died was devastatingly beautiful and magically written. He had a knack for interweaving these real and important issues into movies that made you laugh until you fell off the lounge.
I agree about feeling like I lost a bit of my teenagerhood today.
