I told him about this apologising thing. He said apologising only makes people feel less angry.

"Anger is strong," he said. "Anger is powerful. I need to be angry to be more than what I am."

I lay my hand on his arm. It was ropy with tense muscles. I could feel them twitch and move under my fingertips as I stared back at him.

"There's more than one kind of strength," I told him quietly.
