...which is something I should do soon, as I am feeling rather sleepy and I'm getting the first inklings of one of my Tension Headaches, the ones I get when I use the computer too much.

Lord of the Rings was just as good, if not better, the second time around. And Dad wants to see it, so I may get another viewing next weekend. I'm getting ideas for a fic, which is kinda weird since my past attitude has been "Blasphemy! You can't mess with the Master!" But there's something about Jackson's interpretation of Boromir that says something to me about duty and repsonsibility and burdens that is setting off the fic centres in my brain. Damn fictives. So I've been re-reading parts of the book, looking for the section where Faramir is talking about his brother and growing up, and then talk in chat turned to things Ring, and I demonstrated what a terrible Tolkein-Nerd I am.

Something that occurred to me in the car on the way home - LotR is Tolkein's look at the Ring Of Gyges conumdrum that I remember mentioning in here several months ago. I brought it up in the Corner and had a lively discussion, but I shall make a more detailed comment about all that and more things Ring-related tomorrow when my eyes aren't trying to crawl out of their sockets.

Yesterday at work I found out I have to go to Shepparton for three days next week for computer training on the new County Court system. Which is the spawn of hell, by all accounts. Basically it means from Wednesday to Friday evening, I'll be offline again. On the good side, I'll be given accomodation and meals at the Department's expense. On the bad side (apart from being offline and not being able to talk to you guys), I'll have to actually spend the money first, and then wait to be reimbursed. Which really throws out my budget, since I had planned to use pretty much all of my next paycheck on rent and credit card payments. Looks like the credit card company is going to have to get only half of what I'd intended to pay. Hope they don't mind too much. Money sucks. Douglas Adams was right.

Is it me being boring or are you lot all on holidays or something? My comment-levels are definitely down. Don't make me angst at you again. *grins* I'm such a shameless feedback-whore. Need to be noticed, I guess. *dances around* Hello? Is there anybody out there?

Gah, now I'm getting incoherent. Time for sleep. Lots of lovely sleep. :)

I think most everybody is still on bloody holiday. But I'm here!

Went to St. Louis for New Year's. Had fun, saw Tap and Lyss and Brucha again. Scared the crap out of Pook driving through a snow flurry.

Anyhow, I love you, I miss you.

I'm going to Edana's for the weekend, bye!

Shai!

Oook? In the wake of all the trashy fanfic spawned by the pretty faces in the movie, I would KILL for a nice thoughtful Boromir story. Pleeeeeease? :)

Ah. A fellow commentaddict. I point and laugh.

What'd Douglas Adams say about monkey sucking? *curious*

On holiday, but still speaking to you :).

I'm in Hobart, as you may have gathered by now, but I'm such a hopeless net addict that I'm in this over-priced net cafe instead of a) learning Latin, which is what I'm theoretically meant to be doing here or b) being touristy, which I've been doing all morning :).

I'd love to read your Boromir story - the movie is just full of fantastic fanfic waiting to happen, and it's well, not. At least not on fanfiction.net, which is not a good measure of anything.

Anyway, I think my point got lost somewhere and the metre is running :).

You may've already got these....

The Faramir bits are in Two Towers, book four, "The Window on the West" iirc, and some of "The Forbidden Pool"

Hrm...
