"Mouse, you're supposed to repel demons, not bring them home."
Harry looked down at his faithful companion of far too many years of demon attacks and black magic wars, who looked back up at him and whined, hopefully.
"I mean, what am I supposed to do with it? Adopt it?" Harry glared down at the small bundle huddled between Mouse's enormous paws.
Mouse offered a wuff of agreement.
"No. No way, no how. It's a demon."
And so it was. Dressed in rags that were steadily shredding from contact with its skin, skin that was, by the way, bright red and spiky. Let's not forget the spikes, that were currently carving up the linoleum. Harry had no idea how Mouse had managed to carry the tiny thing in without cutting his mouth, but then again, Mouse was a very smart dog. But as Harry surveyed the creature, it looked up at him with big, bright blue eyes that he could have sworn had tears in them.
"Besides, what are we going to feed it?" Harry continued, weakly in the face of two sets of imploring expressions. It wasn't helped when Mister strolled in, sniffed at the newcomer, and continued on his way without any kind of issue.
Harry sighed. "Fine. But you get to take care of it, you hear?"
