2011: The year of my 41st birthday. I'm living in Canada with roomie [livejournal.com profile] dexfarkin and working for the Ontario government as a legal assistant. I'm in therapy and on medication for depression. Life has its ups and downs, but despite the downs, I feel like I'm living my life for myself.

2001: The year my twelve-year relationship ended. I was living in Wodonga, a country town, working part time and trying desperately to deal with the fact my life - and all my plans and expectations - had fallen apart. I felt like a failure, most of the time. Also, my second [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and Walkabout.

1991: Almost twenty-one and in my third year of university, just about to celebrate my second anniversary with the guy I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I was living in a share house with two other girls in Brunswick and I was studying psychology, with two medical-type classes that were fascinating but too science-based for me. I would eventually barely pass both and drop my grade average down. I was also studying criminology, to make up a failed second year class, and loving it.

1981: The year we moved to the farm. We lived in my great-grandparents' house while our place was being built - I had a funny little lean-to room in the back that was long and narrow, and I loved because it was away from the rest of the house. I had just started high school that year and had three best friends - Jenny, Diana and Carolyn. The summer before school started in March was spent painting gates and sheds and water tanks on our property, and I had flecks of khaki green paint in my hair on that first day of school.

1971: I was one year old and we were living on an Army base in Seymour. In another three months Mum would be pregnant with my younger brother, born in February 1972.
