I agree... fanfiction is a hobby I do exclusively for personal gratification. Obviously, the day will never come when I can get the work I do in our milieu published or paid. That noted, feedback does have very addictive properties.

The stories I've written in the genre are quite long, they're fairly complicated, and as crossovers they turn off a number of casual readers. I would be dishonest if I did not admit to having a tinge of jealousy at folks on FF.N with thirty reviews, or OTL posters who get round after round of public feedback. My dark little yarns don't get anything like that kind of volume.

At the same time, I don't think I've ever gotten the brief, "I dug it," sort of feedback. The folks who write me ( and like you, it's a fairly consistent group) provide wonderful insights and criticisms of the work. I suppose that as far as feedback goes, I'm a fan of quality over quantity. I find that someone writing with a compelling set of questions about the work challenges me to push myself as a writer on the next go-round.

To sum up, my response to your original post is a resounding "here, here!" Now I'm off to read your new Hellblazer... 'bout fricking time, right?
