[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] has need of some advice regarding one of her stories and an unauthorised translation. See here for details.

So, it's been established the site I pimped yesterday is run by a crazy person who seems to think pairing lists are more important than actual history. Now, given the response to both the pimping of the site and the disappointment of discovering said crazy, Frito, Dex and I have been bouncing around some ideas.

Yes, you know where this is going. I apparently have too much spare time in my life. *wry*

Dex will be purchasing webspace sometime soon in order to host the Dexcon website. It's possible, if there's sufficient interest and need, that we can set up our own comic fandom wiki - Frito, Dex and I have already created and maintained one for X-Project, so we know how things operate, and given the fact wikis can be edited by anyone with user permissions, it'd be a good way of maintaining a CFAN-like list of archives, journal communities and mailing lists, given the most common complaint about comics fandom these days is that people don't know where the active sites are any more.

The thing is, I certainly don't want to end up writing large chunks of this thing, especially since I'm one of the 'third generation' of ficcers and there's whole reams of history I'm not up on. So we'd need the support and effort of a good chunk of the comics communitiy - writing, pimping, researching, producing images, etc. We already have a basic framework (we were hoping to institute it in CrazyGirl's site, but alas, no), that would cover hopefully the full gamut of comics fic, but there's a lot of work involved there. And it'd be preferable that we don't start this and see it dribble off into inactivity within a month or two.

So, who's interested?

Well, boredom and long rambling email conversations with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], that is. I blame her for this.

I'm thinking of starting a fanfic archive. On LJ, since I suck with the layout thing and actually wouldn't mind playing around with the traditional archive idea (if an LJ archive is a new concept, that is. Could be I'm just behind the times). Any way, what I am thinking to put in this archive would be TCPs, or The Common People Project fics. Although not the open-door policy [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], bless her soul, had on her archive, since there's only so many "mutant student is killed by the evil FOHers at their school" stories I want to read. ;) I'm thinking something more along the lines of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s "Premium Vintage" archive, where she collected the fanfic she felt was good.

This isn't a new idea - [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I came up with it one night in a St Kilda pub, only he didn't have time and I didn't have the tech savvy. And the eventual idea would be to stimulate TCP writing again, possibly even in other 'verses, which was always fun.

But yeah. This is why I shouldn't be allowed to get bored. ;)

Another meme, this time grabbed from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com].

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll tell you want happened then in at least 100 words, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

Alternatively, give me a time and a character from RP: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] or [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com].

My fic (excluding the Subreality stuff) can largely be found here, or under the tag "fanfic" in this LJ. The Collective Mutants series (in order) can be found here.

Yes, my fanfic is all collected at the Pit of Voles. I need to send things to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com].

*pokes the [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] community* Where are the rest of the Dexcon workshop fics? There's got to be more than four... In other news - am dead tired and back from London's rib fest. Yes, I am highly aware of the irony of a vegetarian attending rib fest. Sides are good. Sun is also good and now I actually have a tan for the first time this summer. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] left today, which was sad. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] leaves tomorrow. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] leaves Thursday. Thursday night I think Bryant and I are going to end up sleeping at like 9pm. Or I am. But yeah, it'll be odd, after a month of constant visitors. More time for online-ness and guitar and all, but also quiet and a very empty apartment with just two of us.

I've just posted the workshop fic Benway, Nute and I wrote. You can find it here.

Courtesy of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], a really, really good post-Serenity story. A secret and a quest. Just click on the next button for each instalment - as of now there are eight chapters of thirteen up.

Edit: Oh for fuck's sake... Obvious typo fixed. Last time I post late after too many hours online...

Mainly people I've been talking to in person, but yeah.

Mythbusters fanfic. Adam and Jamie investigate the best way to kill a zombie.

So, there's this meme going around where you talk about your works in progress. Since it's been a while since I wrote anything more than a short story that wasn't RPG, it's more of an 'Abandoned Stories" meme for me. But it's an interesting exercise in where my fanfic brain was a couple of years ago... Now with added excerpts!

1) A Meeting of Minds - Generation X/X-Factor. )

2) A Wolf In Winter - Buffy the Vampire Slayer. )

3) Boy's Own Adventures - Hellblazer/Buffy the Vampire Slayer. )

4) Untitled - Powers. )

5) Through the Angel Door - Neverwhere/Books of Magic. )

6) Underground - Endless (Hob Gadling) )

7) Wish I Could Stay - Buffy the Vampire Slayer. )

And this isn't even counting the envelope of pages torn from various notebooks in my room. Lots of different bits and pieces there...
deathpixie: (conjob)
Not one of the mprov fics, but something I wrote a couple of years ago and didn't like the ending. So I re-wrote it. Enjoy.

Fandom: Hellblazer/Books of Magic.

Rating: PG-13 for some swearing.

Summary: John Constantine and Tim Hunter have breakfast and discuss the state of Tim's magic. They're unaware they're providing an eavesdropper with some interesting ideas.

Set early on in Tim's career of being potentially this era's most powerful mage. Apologies for any offence caused by Certain Implications. ;)

No profit, only homage. And possibly some piss-taking.

Inspiration in Strange Places. )
deathpixie: (true love)
Fandom: Firefly/Serenity.
Rating: PG-13.

Prompts: From [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]: heart, liqueur, concrete.

Spoilers for Serenity, references to the Firefly episodes "Ariel", and "War Stories".

Warning: Not safe for work. Something of a tear-jerker.

She's pretty torn up, but she'll fly true. )
deathpixie: (hello again)
Between [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], the prospect of a central comic fic noticeboard/newsletter has been raised, to cover the gaps left by the demise of OTL and CFAN. Go and check out the poll and make your opinion known..

I for one think it's a good idea. I know I've lost contact with a lot of comic ficcers since concentrating on LJ-land, and I've been gradually getting back into fanfic writing these past few months - having a central point to find stuff to read and places to post would do a lot to encourage that more.
deathpixie: (X-Project: My girl)
And another one. This one's for [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] the Indecisive, who asked for lots. This'll be a work in progress post.

Fandom: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Prompts: love, animate, mad dog.
Rating: G.

Note: Inspired by my friend [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] who is indeed a mad Englishman.

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun. )

Well, three, really, but they're all pretty short drabble-ish ones. For [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] who asked for the following:

Fandom: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Prompts: kitten, nickel, vulture.
Rating: G

Our place in the world. )

***

Fandom: X-Men Movieverse
Prompts: insane, happy, liberty.
Rating: G.

Takes place after the ending of X1.

We're X-Men. We take risks. It's what we do. )

Fandom: X-Men: Comicverse - Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, to be precise.
Prompts: shower, mud, dammit.
Rating: G.

It's like elk or something. Maybe moose. )
deathpixie: (true love)
Taking another stab at this one, since I didn't like the first attempt. And I had a much better idea. :)

Fandom: Firefly
Characters: Wash, Zoe.

Rating: PG

For [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], who gave me the prompts "shoelace", '"surprise", and "picnic".

Summary: "The first time I met Zoe, she frisked me..." "Our Mrs. Reynolds".

***

Woah, mama. )
deathpixie: (true love)
For Silensy, who mproved me "picnic, legend, shoelace!" for either X-Men or Firefly.

Fandom: Firefly. Set not long after "Trashed".

Rating: G. It's fluff, pure and simple.

Disclaimer: Not mine. No profit, only homage.

Notes: It's short, it's sweet, and you probably should have a dose of insulin handy...
