Since I can't do any of the more nifty surveys that were going around in the past few weeks (since there seems to be a general universal anti-Macintosh conspiracy and all I load are black pages, feh), it's !

(insert cutaway which for some reason won't appear despite multiple edits. LJ's being a shit. Apologies for length.

1. WHAT'S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR LJ USERNAME?

One of the first photos I ever showed the online community was off the karate club website, showing me holding my sensei Alex in a wrist lock. I was grinning impishly at the camera, and someone's reaction - I can't remember who now - was "Oh my God, Rossi's a pixie!" Over time I became known as the Pixie O' Death (on account of the karate thing), and then in the Age of Apocabyss RR, Indigo gave me the inspiration for the DeathPixie character. I used it here mainly because at that point in time I was still a bit iffy about the whole online journal concept and didn't want to make myself too easy to find, so I used the deathpixie handle instead.

2. NAME FIVE [5] OF YOUR FAVORITE PIG-OUT FOOD

Potato, rosemary and caramelised onion pizza from "La Cucina" in Brunswick North, sushi of any kind except the meat ones, potato chips, Vegemite toast and Mum's seafood platter she does at Christmas time.

3. HAVE YOU EVER HAD A MAKEOVER?

As in a bunch of girls/women get together and do your hair and makeup? Um, once, I think, in first year university, when my two best friends got bored and decided to educate me.

4. NAME ALL MEMBERS OF THE BEATLES

George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Stuart No-one-Ever-Remembers-His-Last-Name. Left them in Germany, I think it was, and died tragically early. His girlfriend was the one who gave George, Paul and John the mop-tops, iirc.

5. WHAT'S THE LONGEST TIME YOU'VE STAYED OUT OF THE COUNTRY/WHERE?

Out of the States? About twenty-three years. :)

Oh! You mean out of the country I live in? Why didn't you say so? A year, when I was sixteen-seventeen, living in Japan as an exchange student.

7. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORY?

Most of my final year. The exchange thing meant I came back to a new class - mine graduated whilst I was away - and I got on much better with that group. The only person I'd liked from the previous class had also done the exchange thing and was in the same group. :)

8. WHAT IS THE MOST INSANE THING YOU'VE DONE FOR/TO YOUR CRUSH THAT HE/SHE MIGHT NOT/MIGHT KNOW ABOUT?

"Crush"? Please, I haven't had one of those since high school. In which case it was writing him a love letter and actually giving it to him. When I was thirteen and reading way too many teen romance novels.

9. DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM WEDDING

None for me personally, but the best wedding I ever went to was my cousin Mark's, which was in a garden and very informal - they wrote their own vows and had the reception in the garden as well.

10. WOULD YOU EVER JOIN TEMPTATION ISLAND?

Sure, because we all know I'm that good. *snorts* Yeah, right. Actually, I loathe and detest this show with a passion - I find it revolting, destroying relationships for titilation.

11. NAME THREE [3] TEACHERS YOU LIKED IN HIGH SCHOOL/ELEMENTARY.

Mr Crowley (Geography, Year 9); he used to start wearing a badge every May which read 'Pray for Snow" - he was a mad ski buff.

Mr French (English Lit, Year 12); He was one of the first to make me realise that it wasn't strange for people to love words and books as much as I did. And he used to really challenge us to think about things.

Ms Kelly (English, Year 11); She always encouraged me and made me feel I had something to offer - at the end of the year, she had a little awards show with comments about each student, and for me she told the class that they had really missed out on something by not getting to know me better. This was pretty much the first time anyone outside my family had praised me like this.

12. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE QUOTE? WHAT IS IT?

"He has a right to criticise who has a heart to help." Abraham Lincoln. Pretty much my personal motto - I'm tired of wasting time complaining about things that are within my ability to change if I just make the effort.

13. MY FIRST HEARTBREAK HAPPENED WHEN I WAS...

Hmm, not sure. Sometime in high school, when I realised the boy I'd loved all the way through was never going to see me as anything more than a friend, which was sometime in Year 12, I think. Yes, he was the other exchange student. Even that wasn't a 'break', more like a 'bruise'. Heartbreak is listening to your recently-exed ex making love to another woman in the next room, which makes it March last year.

14. THE SCHOOL PICTURE YOU BURIED IN YOUR BOTTOM DRAWER?

Mum has mine, in a photo album which she drags out to embarass me. I have a few that are cringe-worthy if only for the bad Eighties perm.

15. DO YOU HAVE ANY WEIRD PREFERENCES? WHAT ARE THEY?

Depends what you call weird. I call myself vegetarian although I still eat fish and seafood. I don't own a car and didn't get my licence until I was in my late twenties. I love chili and wasabi. I like cleaning.

16. WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE OPPOSITE SEX?

Because we all know they have a hive mind. Um, if I had to be like that, why the ones I meet can't handle sex without love.

17. WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND?

Ugh, this is again, so high school. How can I put one friend above another, when they all fulfill difference roles for me?

18. NAME ONE TV CHARACTER YOU'D MOST WANT TO BE.

Buffy. Then at least she'd duck a bit more often and stop getting hit in the face unnecessarily. ;)

19. IF YOU WERE FAMOUS, AND WERE TO BE A GUEST ON A TALK SHOW, WHOSE SHOW WOULD YOU CHOOSE? WHY?

I'd have them bring back "Hessy's Shed", just so I could be interviewed by Paul Hester from Crowded house. ;)

20. GIVE YOURSELF A PORN STAR NAME

One of those 'rules' for porn names gave me Tinkerbell Johnston. ;)

21. DO YOU HAVE ANY WEIRD SLEEPING HABITS?

I grind my teeth when I'm stressed. I sleep with a teddy bear and sometime a pillow lying longwise next to me. I can't sleep if my feet are cold or there's any light in the room.

22. WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO THIS SUMMER?

Hmm, since I'm heading north this year, I'll have basically one very long summer, with two autumns. You guys know my plans. :)

23. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW?

"Ordinary Day" by Great Big Sea, which Falstaff sent me on mp3. "Stereo" by The Watchmen, which is just pure get up and go. "Monsters" by Something for Kate, which just says something to me at the moment.

*grins* You expected me to stick to one? That's like naming a best friend.

24. WRITE A LINE FROM ANY SONG

"When will I begin
To live again?
One day I'll fly away
Leave all this to yesterday
What more can your love do for me
When will love be through with me?"

One Day I'll Fly Away - Moulin Rogue soundtrack.

25. DO YOU KNOW AT LEAST ONE DISNEY SONG BY HEART? WHICH ONE?

Not unless Disney are recruiting Tim Friedman, Neil Finn or David Bridie as songwriters lately.

26. DESCRIBE YOUR DREAM HOUSE.

Somewhere where I can feel comfortable to be myself. Lots of natural light and space for a garden.

27. YOUR TYPICAL SLEEPWEAR

Red Dwarf t-shirt (it's that large a shirt) and underwear. Got my cherub pjs for cooler weather.

28. WHAT'S IN YOUR BAG?

Hmm, if it's the bag I use all the time, that would be my bike pannnier - spare tube, tyre levers, multi-tool for repairs in one pocket; raincoat and bike lock, plus usually my work clothes, diary, address book and the bum bag I use as a handbag with my wallet, two sets of keys (home and work) and some emergency tampons and Neurofen.

29. WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET?

The usual boring stuff (licence, money cards, health care cards, library cards, receipts, money, business cards, etc), plus a 2000 dong note from Vietnam I forgot to take out, a lucky charm from Japan that's supposed to stop me from lsing my wallet (it's worked so far, *grins*) and my indoor climbing gym membership collection - five places, last count. And damn, my Kathmandu membership has expired again. And the brand new security pass for the new court.

30. HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR WALLET RIGHT NOW?

$35.35. Which has to last me until next Wednesday, according to my budget.

31. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PAIR OF SHOES?

Teva sandals, which are getting a bit old. And my hiking boots for winter. :)

32. IF YOU COULD'VE GONE TO YOUR SENIOR PROM IN A DIFFERENT OUTFIT, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I had a senior prom? And no-one told me? Those bastards! Oh, hang on a minute, another of those American-centric questions. I did a debutante. I wore white lace (everyone wears white).

33. HOW WAS YOUR SENIOR PROM?

Non-existent.

34. TELL US ABOUT ANY OF YOUR BIRTHDAYS

My nineteenth. I was in my first year at uni, living in residence, and there's a photo of about thirty people in my very small college room with me in the middle. It was my first non-family-organised party. :)

My 21st was a lot of fun too. There was a spit roast and my penfriend from Sydney - who I'd been writing to since we were fourteen - came down for it.

35. WOULD YOU RATHER BE A HOBBIT, AN ELF OR A DWARF?

Half-elf, like the yummy Elrond. :)

36. WHAT ARE THE FIRST FIVE THINGS YOU WOULD SPLURGE ON IF YOU WERE A BILLIONAIRE?

1) Pay off all my debts (including the student-realted ones).

2) Pay off all my parent's debts.

3) Pay off the debts of certain friends.

4) Travel. With Mel as my Travelling Companion.

5) Great big donation to the Wilderness Society.

37. WHAT IS YOUR DAILY BEFORE-GOING-TO-BED RITUAL?

Brush my teeth and take my pill, move the stuff I've dumped on my side of the bed to the vacant side, check the alarm is set and turned on, maybe read, depending on how tired I am/how late it is. I have a rule of trying to get to bed before 11pm on work nights, except on Mondays when Buffy's on. Curl up on my side and sleep.

38. WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST/FUNNIEST NICKNAME ANYONE HAS EVER CALLED YOU?

For a while I got "G.I. Jo" at school because at school camp I had a couple of my Dad's Army surplus shirts/shorts for cave crawling in.

39. NAME THREE [3] OF YOUR FAVORITE CARTOON CHARACTERS.

Erg, this would imply I have time to watch cartoons. Um, Jason from "Battle of the Planets", who I had a huge crush on when I was a kid; the version of Batman that's all noir-y and nifty. ;) Modigliana from "The Ferals", who isn't really a cartoon, but she's a puppet and that's close enough, isn't it? ;)

40. WHAT ARE THE MAGAZINES YOU READ ON A REGULAR BASIS?

Depends on who often I go to the doctor's. ;) I used to be subscribed to "Rock" (which is a climbing magazine), but at the moment I barely have comic money... :(

Ah, that would be the one from "The Adventures of Superman and Batman" and he's wearing the gray suit with the black logo, no yellow around it, ne? When they came up with the streamlined designs for it, I fell in love with the series all over again. And it was much darker, too, story content-wise.

Did I ever tell you I got to hear Kevin Conroy do the "I am Batman!" yell at an autograph signing once? Ah, the benefits of dating a Warner Bros. gallery guy... ^_^
