And what's more, it isn't needing calomine lotion today. I'm covered in spots still, but - apologies for the TMI but I'm about to get gross here - but they've crusted over nicely, which means two things. One, I'm not contagious any more (not that I'd consider setting foot outside the door or letting anyone other than immediate famiily see me right now), and two, I'm not itching any more! I do have to resist the unholy temptation of lots of little scabs - I'm something of a picker by nature, so the nails are coming off very soon - but I'm feeling 100% better than I was yesterday. The fever's gone down and I'm even feeling hungry again.

Thank goodness for the healing factor that turns a three-week illness into a couple of days. Hopefully at this rate I'll be able to go back to work next week. Just depends on how healed up the scabs are - I'm certainly not looking my best right now. *grins* And I doubt I'll ever complain about coldsores again - those are small and in one place, this is like coldsores all over your body, including your scalp, ick.

To clear up confusion generated by the last post. The dinner I cancelled was the farewell up here, to be held tonight in Albury. Not the one next week in Melbourne. So, Melbourne people, we're still on for that. yasminm, can you get me the phone number for the restaurant so i can book? And I'll need to know who's going, so I know how many to book for. RSVP in the commnets, if you don't mind. :)

Another indication I'm getting better - I'm actually dressed this morning. After several days of sitting around in my PJs, that's a definite improvement. And I'm going to change my bedding too, since I've got calomine lotion all over everything. *scratches head, and winces* Ouch, must remember the scalp's still tender*

Still dosing up on the juice - I need all the immune boosters I can get.

Hey, how goes things? (And let me just say right now that I'm really tired, so some of my sentences may not make complete, coherent sense. ^_^) Yeah, the Pox is evil, huh? *hugs tightly* I remember when I had it way back when... The itching is maddening! Glad you're over that part (though it IS hard not to pick any scabs). Why did this happen right before your trip? Because it HAD to. It's the way the universe functions. Dunno if it'll help any, but I'm going to try and get some work done on the in-progress Shantytown fic. So help me, I will get this finished before your Walkabout is over - and hopefully before you get to anywhere near this area. (Lemme know when? Regarding picking...

I am a complete picker, and to pick chicken pox is possibly the most stupid thing I've ever done :) I discovered that they are not like normal scabs -- each of mine had a very deep and strong white root in the centre, and only five years later are the scars on my face small enough to be basically unnoticable. On my body, they're still quite large. Also, that's how I got a secondary infection which dragged out my illness an extra week. Just a warning, for quicker healing.

I was such an idiot teenager :)
