Yeah, well, it's my birthday and I should be allowed to grandstand just a little bit. ;) I'll stop now, I promise.

Today has been pretty good so far, especially considering I was at work all day today to make up for having Monday off. First up, my FarliChilde called me, to tell me Happy Birthday, which was a lovely surprise - and handy, since my alarm didn't go off this morning. Unfortunately I couldn't talk long, since I had to scramble to get ready for work, but it was a wonderful start to the day. :) *hugs the FarliChilde*

Di (the personell person) called and told me my leave for Dexcon was approved, and I had twenty hours of recreational leave left. Not that I expected any problems, but that was the last thing to confirm. Paula got me a chocolate mud cake for morning tea, and she and Peter and Owen, the Sheriff who hangs around the court pretending to work sang "Happy Birthday" to me. In the office, right in front of the counter. There was even a candle stuck in it for me to blow out. *grins and blushes, remembering* Then my grandparents stopped by to give me their present - a deep red tulip in a pot - and to have a chat. (plants are a sort of family thing - we all love gardening, to different degrees) BRM is currently in Albury getting my present - silly duffer forgot/was too busy to do it earlier - despite my telling him not to stress about it. In all, my 31st birthday hasn't been so bad after all. :) But I am taking Paula's advice and having recurring 26th birthdays from now on. 26 is a good age.

Oh, yeah, the other good thing was that I've half assembled my Trinity outfit. I scoured various second hand places this lunchtime; I found a pair of leather pants in one, but they were size 8, curse it. The only way I can fit into an 8 is if someone crushes my pelvis. :P But I ended up at Target, and managed to find, not vinyl pants, but a black pair of velvety ones which look right. And a very slinky black tank top. *wicked grin* I'm going to get some sunglasses and a toy gun tomorrow (I need sunglasses any way, with the cycling) and I'll check if Mum has an acceptable pair of boots I can borrow, before I get a cheap pair of Army boots from the surplus place (my feet are smaller than most Army peoples').I thimk I can do the whole thing for less than $50, which is good, considering my credit card bill after airfare. And the local paper's horoscope predicting large bills is making me twitchy. ;)

Off I go - gotta get ready to go to Mum and Dad's.

Happy Happy Birthday!

Wow, another year on the Death Pixie, eh? I'm glad you had such a great day. Of course by the time I write this, it's AFTER your birthday, but I'm glad you had a great one anyway. <snugs> Wish I could hug you in person, and I'm glad you were able to get your time off for DexCon.

I'm more glad that you got your stuff for Trinity together. That way, I've got more motivation to put my own Black Queen costume together... not sure if I want to do the more genteel pleather pants/bodice combo, or go full out with garter and patent leather boots. Either way, I'd need a cape, and then someone with a camera who would take pictures of it for me....

Oh, Kaylee...?
