Of all the Saturdays in August...

I've just realised that I can't go to the Clerk of Courts dinner in Auguist, because it clashes with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s birthday plans. Typical - there's what, five Saturdays in August? And it's not like my social calender is that full. Bah.
Ah well, the CC dinner is just another excuse for a bunch of public servants to get dressed up and get extremely drunk. I'll have more fun at the Comedy Club. ;)
Now for the weekend update...
Friday - After doing what turned out to be effectively half an hour overtime in order to finish something that got interrupted by The Meeting That Wouldn't End (but was entertaining, what with people choking on mini Mars bars and such), I decided I owed myself a drink. Just the one. So I went down to the Irish Times and had a pint of Caffrey's, and wrote a little, read a little more, and listened to various conversations going on around me. Then I took myself home, deciding en route that I didn't feel like cooking and going to Singh's, the excellent Indian place around the corner from my house. I had another beer there, bringing my total for the evening up to two, and that was it. I got home, watched the Angel episode I'd taped the night before, trawled around online for a bit, and then took myself to bed.
Saturday - chores day. I caught up on the dishes I'd let collect, went and did some grocery shopping, and tidied up some. Wrote quite a bit, finishing Death and the Art..., (although I'm thinking I will be re-writing certain bits), and made my FF.Net discovery.
Sunday - lunch with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. Froze our arses off in the park (it was warm that morning, honest!), then went down to the video rental place and got the two original Ring movies on DVD. Yep, still have [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s DVD player. I think I know season 4 Buffy backwards by now. ;) We also got a Jet Li movie Black Mask, with a horrible English dub and no way to switch it on the dvd settings. So we decided not to torture ourselves with that one. Instead we tortured Bounce with California Dreaming, a truly bad fic, but a truly wonderful mistie, and eventually I kicked them out so I could go to bed at a reasonable hour for work the next day.
Being a grown-up sucks sometimes.
I'm getting restless. August is my travel month, and I'm not going anywhere. Except maybe Brisbane to see my Melancamp and the D's and Lynxie. Which reminds me, I must go to the Flight Centre this week and sort out tickets. But yeah, I'm finding myself bored a lot of the time - bored at work, bored on weekends (since I'm not going to the pub anymore)... I need a new hobby, something I don't have to rely on other people to do, but where I can meet folks. 'Cause I don't like to hassle the same people all the time for company, but when I don't, I don't get any company. You'd think in a city this big meeting people wouldn't be a problem.
I seem to have lost the knack a bit.
Coldplay concert on Friday, tho'. And karate tonight and Wednesday. Just have to fill in the rest of the week.

No, I don't want you to change it - you were first, and it's not like I've put any money down for the other.
Knew I should have put a big disclaimer saying something about this not being, in any way, your problem. ;)
