Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!
Jul. 12th, 2001 06:15 pmExcuse me whilst I allow my Inner Yobbo a brief airing. ;)
Yay Stu! You little beauty! Aussie cyclists Rule!
*grins* For the past two days, Stuart O'Grady has worn the Yellow Jersey in Tour De France, meaning that he's been in the lead. I don't expect him to win - he's a sprinter, not a climber, and the Alps always knock him around - which is all the more reason to crow now. :)
It's been a huge couple of weeks for Aussie sports. Pat Rafter made it to the tennis finals in Wimbeldon, losing to the Croat (I'm not going to spell his name!), but losing with dignity. In the rugby we beat the English and Irish team, which means this weekend's match will be the decider, and we've whupped the English yet again in cricket. And now Stu.
We so rule. :)

Okay, you can come out of hiding now - the Yobbo is safely tucked away with large amounts of beer and the sports pages from the newspaper. I'm feeling much better today than I have all week - I was in court for only half the day, which is probably part of it - and managed to get my outstanding work done. It was really quiet in the office, but that was probably due to the weather. It was pissing down with rain all day, just about. I got wet riding in, but luckily it had broken long enough for me to get home without another dose. I'm going to have to give the chain a once-over tomorrow, to make sure it doesn't rust.
It looks like I'll be in Melbourne on the weekend - there's a slide night of the pics from the Mt Howitt walk I did with BRM and Dhugal and John, at John's place, and Dhugal asked me to come. It depends on the Flying Eggplant, BRM's Mini - hopefully it's up for a trip. I'm still not sure of the details, but I'll email Yasmin and Andraste tonight after I find them out and see if they're up for another coffee-and-world-domination session. Which would be most cool. It also gives me the chance to sort a couple of things out for Dexcon - shopping mainly, ugh! - but I'm also going to check out the second-hand CD shop BRM discovered on Bourke St and see what I can find. I've realised how scanty my CD collection actually is, now it's been separated from BRM's, and I need to nurture it.
Or that's the excuse this time.
A bit of a blast from the past music-wise tonight. I was at the shop, getting the paper, and there was a Split Enz song, "Dirty Creature" playing. So of course, I had to dig out one of my Split Enz CDS - History Never Repeats - The Best Of Split Enz. Good classic Eighties stuff. *grins*
Book recommendation this time: Into the Dark by Victor Kelleher. A take on the Dracula story, from the point of view of the Count's servant, Ox. Great for fans of vampire stories who are all Anne Rice-d out. And he does nifty things with the Mina character, making her much more kick-arse.
Hrm, I'm hungry again - time to do the "stare into the fridge in the hopes a meal will leap out" thing.
