So, it's my first night in my parents' house on my own. I've got the watering system on, fulfilling my horticultural duties, left over pizza for dinner since it was a work day and I don't feel much like cooking, and plans to spend a relaxing evening.

And I'm loving it. :)

It's quiet here. I don't have to worry about BRM coming home in a shitty mood, or anything like that. I can do as I like, make as much or as little mess as i like, not have to trip over the piles of papers on the floor or have to do yet another pile of festering dishes. I can eat or not eat as I feel like.

Basically, I can be myself. :)

It helps of course that I had a great day at work - the day-long matter booked in settled, leaving us with a small list that we managed to knock over by lunchtime. Greg Duncan, he of the Many Clients, went to the supermarket and bought BBQ goodies and we had a long leisurely lunch (I had two glasses of red wine, it was that leisurely!) under the tree in the small yard at the back of the court - the Court Yard, if you like. *grins*. It was a glorious day, a very good lunch, and made up for the previous Hell Weeks we've had, in spades. The only flaw was that Paula was feeling really unwell with this flu she's had, and was very quiet and subdued, almost grumpy. Or maybe I've done something, I don't know. I know my AussieCon leave has thrown a spanner in several works, with Pete having time off the same time that I didn't know about, but there's no way I was going to change my plans. If it was just me, then maybe, but not when I'm responsible for getting others up there.

Ooh, that reminds me, must call the car hire place and double-check things are right for next Thursday's pick-up.

The other good thing about work was the phone call I got from the Registrar in Charge of the region, regarding my full time status. The magistrate here spoke to Kay Auty, the magistrate in charge of the region, and she got onto the CEO of the Department. Pete's also been making noises about it. So it's confirmed - from January, my position will be full time. It's perfect timing - BRM will probably move out in February, giving me a month's leeway with the rent. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders - I hadn't realised how worried I was getting about the finanicial position. I even did another half-hour overtime without pay - sorry, Dyce! *ducks* - without complaint, because now I know that my position is secure and I can be generous with my time.

Corryong Court tomorrow, which is looking much better now the large intervention order case that was booked in has settled. I'm getting a lift up with Greg Duncan, bright and early tomorrow morning, so I'd better get an early night. There's also the book club dinner tomorrow night, and some kind of legal function on Friday night in the neighbouring and historic town of Beechworth - again, I'm catching a lift with Greg. Poor man's becoming my private taxi service. So, my non-existent life is picking up a bit. ;)

Gotta dash and change the sprinklers over. Catch you later. Take care. :)
