deathpixie: (lizard)
Not at work, that's for sure. Looks like my body had other ideas than going to work today (especially after yesterday - I was the living dead by the end of the day!), and I didn't wake up until 10. So I called in, got told no-one had expected me in any way since I'd "looked like crap" yesterday, and then made myself a nice soothing cuppa and perused my friends list and email.

While the cough is worse today, I do kinda feel better. Most of that is due to talking to Mel last night - she always makes me feel better - and the two large mugs of chai with honey I had whilst talking to her. Think I've found a new cold therapy. And as far as I know, chai doesn't have caffiene (well, it didn't keep me awake last night, that's for sure), so I can drink gallons of it and not do myself any damage. That's the hard part of me having a cold - I need to drink lots of liquids, but I don't want cold stuff, and I'm trying to avoid dairy (black tea with sugar this morning), so I have to find something else. Lemon and honey is okay, but not in large doses.

Now I have to find somewhere that sells chai, since I used up what I had left last night. :P

A day of is a good thing around about now, even if it's because I'm hacking my lungs out. It means I can clean this place up (haven't had time or energy in the evenings), make my contribution towards Friday morning tea (spinach and cheese filo triangles, which are time consuming to make, but always popular), and give myself a break before meeting my old friend Jan tonight. She lives in Sydney, and we've been friends since we were fourteen and I answered an ad for a penfriend in one of those teeny-bopper music magazines. Apart from my family, she's the one who's known me the longest of anyone, and even though we're not in great contact now (she's a married doctor with a three year old son and I'm a travelling layabout *grins*), it doesn't matter - I called her on Tuesday and it was like we'd last spoken a week ago, instead of about eight years at her wedding. It's kinda like my ficcer friends - we communicated largely by letter, and have really only met twice. She came to my 21st birthday party (a big deal in Australia, especially the country), and I went to her wedding. She's down here for a conference, and I get to meet the kidbit for the first time too. Hopefully the Moreland Hotel still has it's playground area, 'cause that's why I picked it. ;)

And if there's any time left over, I'm going to be writing. I haven't all week, except for the Bloody Ink challenge, so I've got itchy fingers. And besides, I'm determined to finish "Death and the Art..." in its entirety before I post any more. With a little note at the end to those who have been saving their feedback to go ahead since that's it. ;) There's only two more chapters, about fourty pages - I generally post in chunkc of twenty pages at a time to save people's browsers.

Okay, so that's my day today. Believe me, I am sick, but that's no reason why I shouldn't get stuff done. Besides, I always feel better out of 436 Lonsdale St - I swear that building is some kind of psychic vampire...
