deathpixie: (drop bear)
I was telling Bounce about this guy yesterday, and thought I'd share.

Some background. This started as a $50 parking fine. The gentleman in question has copyrighted his name, but this time, at least, he isn't demanding royalties from us for the use of it on his paperwork.

Edited to remove various legal mumbo-jumbo:

1) I, [Wacko of the Week] do not consent to the Magistrates' Court, Melbourne.

Doesn't consent to us doing what, exactly?

(bits about the Courts being companies snipped as not very interesting to anyone without legal training)

4) Due to the unanimous vote of the Citizens of Her Majesty's Government of the Commonwealth of Caledonia Australis (TM) to instate our own Court, I, [Wacko of the Week] now require this matter to be heard in the People's Court of the Commonwealth of Caledonia Australis (TM)

Yep, this guy doesn't actually live in Australia. Yes, he lives in Doncaster, a suburb of Melbourne, but he has succeeded from the rest of the country along with a bunch of fellow-wackos, and refuses to recognise the authority of the Victorian courts. He goes on to require us to lodge proceedings with the People's Court of Caledonia Australis (a loyal member of the Commonwealth, which was amusing - I wonder what the Queen thought when they sent her official notice of their new country?) before we can do anything to retrieve the parking fine, plus various costs that have accrued.

Hey Mel, Melvania is looking good. *grins*

Thoughts that occur - this guy provides a phone number, so he's obviously using Australian phone services, and a postal address "via Victoria", so he uses our postal services. And I'm guessing Caledonia Australis must have made some trade arrangements to be supplied with electricity, gas and water. So this country of theirs isn't terribly self-supporting, or even independent. And if they use our parking spaces, you'd think they'd have to pay for them as well, no?

*shakes head* People are weird.

Ooh, surprise this morning as I was getting ready for work: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] called! *does the Dance of Phone Happiness* I couldn't talk for long, what with needing to get to work, but I came in with a big smile on my face and a skip in my step. :) I love surprises.
