...it's back to work I go.

I slept through last night with nary a cough or a splutter, so I'm back at work today. Mainly because I was getting isolated and weird at home. Living on your own means that if you hole up in your flat for several days, you won't actually speak to anyone. And that, my friends, is not good for anyone.

*grins* Ah, the irony. I was bored at home so I'm back at the place where I get bored. ;)

Although actual work has yet to be done - I've just gotten through all my emails (I've rigged LJ so notifications go to my work account, to entertain me throughout the day), and there's a few more thank yous to do. Thanks to all those who sent birthday wishes, well wishes, and just plain wishes. And many thanks to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] who gave me six months more on my paid account. *hugs* Combined with the [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s Christmas gift of time, I have a paid LJ for a lot longer now. *chees and hugs both* Now I just need to learn how to make icons. I was trying yesterday, but I think I'm lacking in certain software for the really pretty stuff.

Hmm, been here an hour and a half and I've already got ink all over my hands. There's a leaky pen somewhere but I'm buggered if I know where.

Something to think about: why is it, when you have 'serving sizes' on food, the servings are always so small? Who are they for, anorexic pygmies?

Nothing like a change of location to perk you up. Yes, I was at work, but it wasn't my small flat, and after four days holed up being miserable with the world, I was ready for new surroundings.

Things that happened today that were nifty:

a) My co-workers got me a birthday cake, seeing how on Friday we already had stacks of food, and I wasn't in on Monday or Tuesday. I wasn't expecting it, since some of us had done lunch, and had no idea until they told me. Still, any excuse for chocolate cake at our work. *grins*

b) Amanda called me. That was enough to put a huge smile on my face. Can't wait for Saturday.

c) Bounce also called. *happydances* After half a week of not talking to anyone at all, it was great to talk her ears off.

d) One returning home I had to take my videos back, and then I went for a wander, not wanting to be home yet. I walked up Lygon Street and unded up at the Thai Nee Cafe (got to love a restaurant with a punny name), and picked up green veggie curry and rice for dinner and lunch tomorrow. I've been craving Thai food ever since I got this flu, and it was good. Nice and hot. :)

e) Due to the stealth technology of my message bank, which saves phone numbers of people who call and don't leave a message, I caught Phil and talked his ears off. *grins* Can you tell I missed talking to people?

f) I posted my birthday cheque to my credit union today, so I'll have money to buy new contact lenses (mental note, must ring clinic tomorrow). I also have three medical receipts to take to Medicare and get refunds on, which will total close to another hundred. I think it's time to start up that interest-bearing savings account. And pay Amanda back the money I owe her from AusCon. It's nice, not having to scrimp.

And that's it for the nifty things. I think I'll get back on the bike tomorrow, first time since last Thursday. *yikes*

B12 facts.

Man, I wish I'd known some of this earlier. I've had a bunch of symptoms for a while - fatigue, weakness, nausea, loss of appetite, and weight loss, neurological changes such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, difficulty in maintaining balance, depression, confusion, poor memory, and poor resistance to infection. None of them severe enough to be a problem until very recently, but all of those.

Most of the non-meat sources of B12 are things like eggs, milk and cheese. All of which I wasn't eating so much whilst travelling. I do eat a lot of cheese, but that's on the lowest end of the source scale. And the reason why it didn't show until now was that when you turn vegetarian as an adult, it an take a number of years to use up the stored supplies.

Hmm, maybe I should mention this to BRM - he eats less fish than I do, and that's the other source. That and Vegemite, that is. *grins* Lots of Vegemite toast for me, by the looks of it.

I'm not going to read too much more - I have my list of food sources, I have my spot-the-symptom thing going on, and if I do much more research I'm going to be convinced I have scarlet fever or something. *grins*
