I swear, today is turning into some kind of bad comedy sketch...

Good news... we have work! Lots and lots of applications, retrieved from the Black Hole that lives in the back of the mail room at 120 Spencer St.

Bad news... the computers are going down for a couple of hours at 1pm, meaning we won't get through it all and we'll be backlogged, again. And another program we need has been down all morning and isn't likely to be fixed until 11am.

Good news... the owner of my flat came around last night to fix my hot water heater.

Bad news... he was being a cheapskate bastard and actually knows nothing about hot water heaters. And my estate agent is in a meeting until 12pm, which means the likelihood of arranging for an actual plumber to come in and fix it today is pretty small.

Good news... work has showers here.

Bad news... I didn't know this until this morning, after I'd already had another bucket shower.

Good news... I heard from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] last night, and got an email from Lise this morning.

Bad news... wait, there is no bad here. Oh well, so much for that particular joke.

It looks like we're going to get an hour for lunch, instead of the usual half-hour, on account of the computers being down. This is a good thing, as I have to take myself down to the Electoral Office and pick up a map for Dad.

I heard on the radio this morning Brad has lost his yellow jersey, but I haven't had the time to check the site yet. Updates later.

Those are the words of my co-worker, not me, BTW.

Said co-worker went to grab another bundle of applications from the pigeon holes and came back, grumbling about how someone was hoarding them all because all she had been able to find were three single applications. This surprised myself and Shelley, as there had been a huge amount of work in the mail this morning.

"Did you check the other pigeon holes?" I asked.

Peta went very quiet and went away, returning with a bundle of applications. It seems she had missed the other two, stuffed full, pigeon holes.

We've been ragging her about her lack of eyesight ever since.

I forgot to mention earlier - last night was another productive writing night. I'm within a whisker of finishing Death and the Art..." - I just need to write the coda, and go back and fill out the previous action scenes. Yep, I'm writing action, which is why it's taking me so bloody long; I find I write the bare bones, just enough to get the images in my head onto the screen, and then have to go back and add details, making sure it makes sense without having access to the inside of my head.

So you see, Mel? You being sleepy last night was a good thing. ;)

I'm not sure if I'll have time to get it done tonight - I have karate training 6.30-8.30, but we shall see. I tend to be a bit wired afterwards, so I might need some sit down time before going to bed.

And hopefully the hot water will be back on - my estate agent called back and said she'd try and get it done today. 'Cause a shower after training is kinda necessary, and I don't think they heat the water in the showers at the gym where we train.

It's a good thing I decided to go home before training (it occurred to me that living ten minutes' ride away, as I do, hanging around for an hour and a half after work, drinking bad coffee and getting cold, was kind of silly. So I've come home to pick up my stuff and have a cuppa). I was barely home ten minutes when the plumber turns up (unexpected, as the estate agent didn't call me back to let me know he was coming), and lo and behold, I have hot water again! *does the Dance of Joy*

I can't wait for that first shower after training tonight...

Looks like I spoke too soon - and that hot shower is going to have to wait just a bit longer. That bloody hot water service is down again, and they're sending a technician to fix it tomorrow.

All I know is I'm sweaty and stiff and fucking cold and I really want a boiling hot shower NOW.

Grr.
