deathpixie: (pedal on for miles)
Last day before the wedding and we're hosting a big BBQ of David's friends and other sundy folks. Mum and I have been food prepping - I make a great kitchen hand, even if my actual cooking skills are of the basic - and dad and I have been gardening and cleaning and everything's starting to fit together. Although apparently there's some nerves - both mum and I didn't sleep great and dad's twitchy, which means there will be a lot of lists. Still, I think we'll be good when the time comes around.

It rained yesterday (yes, just after I was posting about drought). Only for the day, but it was nice, soaking rain. Just before it started, you could smell it on the air, that distinctive rain and dust smell that permeated my adolescence on the farm. And then when it started... well, there's few sounds in my life that are as comforting as the sound of rain on a corrugated iron roof. So yeah, yesterday was nostalgia day for me. Smells and sounds, using cooking implements that have been around my family for as long as I can remember, the to-and-fro of either parent and I working together. It's a big part of who I am, I realise now.

Once dad gets back from the shops, I'll be offline again, probably for a couple of days since I really doubt I'll have time to check stuff tomorrow. ;) Note to the XF crew - fantastic work so far. The logs are perfect.
