Not the best start to the day
Sep. 23rd, 2009 10:46 amSo, last night at the pub, as I went to pay my bill, I discovered that my debit card had been cancelled. Thank goodness it was at the Griffin, since I'd packed away my credit card to stop using it and the roomie was non-liquid as well. A check of my account last night online revealed two ATM withdrawals that I hadn't done, totalling $440.
Yep, that's right. I was skimmed. Somehow they got my PIN number and a copy of my card and cleaned me out before the bank realised something was up and cancelled the card.
So, it was off to the bank with me this morning before work. New card, new PIN, investigation report lodged (since they cancelled the card, it's extremely probable I'll get the money refunded) and they even asked if I had funds to go on with, since it'll take 5 working days to process (I do - the bank cancelled the card before they got into my overdraft, so I've got that for a few days).
As far as new experiences go? Not my favourite. I slept horribly, I've been grinding my teeth all night and my neck is not happy. But, everything has worked out, so at least there's that, right?
