Tonight I went with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] to see My Friend the Chocolate Cake at the Famous Speigeltent, which is a venue run by the Arts centre during Melbourne's International Arts Festival. And no, it's not the grassy area in between the Arts Centre and the Concert Hall, it's the temporary building set up outside the front. It was a fantastic gig - Choccie Cake are always much more fun live, where you can see them fooling around and having fun with the music, and we had the best seats, right in the front row, underneath David Bridie's keyboard. Yes, you may commence the envy now. ;)

A nice mix of songs - pretty much something from every album - and a lot of my favourites. They've stopped doing "The Old Years" as their last song, choosing "More Heart Than Me" from the new Curious album. It's a lovely, wonderful song, and one day it will stop making me tear up - it brings back a lot of memories. Bounce was glaring at David all the way through because he was making me cry. *smiles* But they also played "I've Got A Plan", which I've decided I need to re-adopt as my personal theme song, because of late it's been "A Midlife's Tale", and whilst a memorable song, it's not the best thing to live to. ;)

Now for the doomed part - I got the Speigeltent program. Bad move. Really bad move. I'm now going to go see Deborah Conway tomorrow night do acoustic from her new album which is to come out soon. And there is also the Black-Eyed Susans, The Gadflys, GUD, The Scared Weird Little Guys, and David Bridie doing his solo thing with one of the Go-Betweens appearing. At $27 a ticket, now you can see why I'm doomed.

What I am going to do is check out the live music venues for alternative shows, ones that preferably don't cost me that much a pop. David Bridie I can handle missing, seeing how I saw him back in April, as well as last night. Hopefully the Black-Eyed Susans will be playing the Espy or something similar, as will the Gadflys. And I've already bought the ticket for Deborah Conway, because [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] would never forgive me. *grins* Besides, I get to do the gloat dance in her direction. ;)

Kudos for me - I rang Michael (the guy from Friday night) and gave him my home number for him to call me and arrange something when his work isn't quite so busy. He works at the Convention Centre, and they're about to go nuts, what with the Rugby World Cup and then some other very large sporting event which I forget right now. ;P

Off to bed now, I think. I'm tired (another crappy night's sleep last night, due to another bloody dream. A mass shooting this time. What is it with blood in my dreams lately? Any suggestions?), and I have court tomorrow. Nice short list, at least, made shorter by half of the defendants deciding they don't actually want to appeal against our decisions after all. Although I do have to entertain one of the most annoying work experience students I've ever come across - she's like a younger version of Clare, with the non-stop talking about herself, and she's told me she "doesn't read that well". And she's working in a court. *shakes head* I'm going to have to double check anything she touches, I can see it now.

And I have to say, that Tooheys Extra Dry ad with the animated tongue is totally gross. And rather creepy.

*grins* You forgot to mention the other dozen or so good bands on in the next few weeks.
I may have to find out what times Vika and Linda are playing at.
