Simply amazing thunderstorms through Melbourne last night. I went to bed about 11-ish to lightning flashes playing on the blinds. Sometime in the wee small hours I was woken by what seemed like a Biblical torrent of rain, thunder pealing, almost constant lightning... It was awesome, I tell you. Brunswick seemed to miss out on the golfball-sized hail and flooding experienced by the other Melbourne LJ-ers on various lists, but the roads must have been pretty awash last night - they were covered in debris this morning, mostly bits of tree and blossom. It made riding into work interesting, I can tell you. Only one large puddle, though, which was easily avoided.

Unfortunately the storms didn't do much to cut the humidity - it was like riding through a sauna this morning! And humid air is somehow thicker than ordinary air, so I was actually slower than usual. Hopefully it's cleared now that the clouds have drifted away - I haven't been outside yet, what with these set hours again. And it means I'm going to miss lunch with Blinky and the rest of the Maelstrom - I was hoping to be able to take 1.30-2.30, but Trevor is sticking to the exact hours and hasn't much of a sense of humour about the whole thing. In fact, he's been stalking around the office like a manager from Dilbert. Where's Dogbert when you need him?

And did everyone die or something? LJ is quieter than a school excursion after you ask them "Does anyone have any questions?"

You could always try giving a participation grade to get them talking. I'm doing that next term; they can ask questions, or ask fewer questions but submit to a medical experiment. Heh.

Thundered here in Sydney last night as well, and up in Port Stephens we had a four-day marathon of on-off thunder a while ago! Very cool, except for the fact that afterwards we had to clear the balconies of debris at the hotel where I work...
