deathpixie: (house)

I realised I've been a tad neglectful of my LJ lately in te face of shiny RP distraction, but the RP has dropped off today as well as the work, so I have the time and the urge to let you folks know what's been happening in my oh-so-mundane life.

Most of you know I moved house last weekend. If you don't, shame on you for missing that very important post. *grins* Any way, the last few days have been an ongoing catalogue of the pros and cons of my new abode, as you do. There's some stuff that just doesn't show up until you've slept and tried to cook in a place, y'know?

Any way, the pros list is still vastly outweighing the cons. About the only thing I can find wrong is the traffic noise, and I'm getting used to that. Added to the pros list (on top of balcony for the growing of herbs, sun porch for the lounging of friends in summer, huge rooms and gas heater in the lounge room) were the following:

* the ride into work is 2km longer but takes only an extra 5 minutes - it's a nice, clear run with far fewer traffic lights and I can get some serious pace going. It's wonderful being able to go full throttle again.

* there is storage space for my boxes, meaning I don't have to toss them out and scrounge more for the next time I move house.

* the beach is only ten minutes' walk away, a fact I shall be taking advantage sometime soon. Possibly tonight after dropping the condition report off at the estate agents; it's going to be a hot and sticky ride back today. :P

* there are two baby ringtail possums living in the space above the back balcony where the back door is. I met them last night, looking for the fuse box so I could turn my power on, and they're the most adorable things. Not like those ugly American possums at all. It's funny, I was saying at Healesville Sanctuary that if I could have a pet possum I wouldn't want a cat, and now I have two practically on my doorstep. The best part is they aren't actually in my ceiling, since then they would be annoying rather than cute.

* there's more than enough space to host gatherings of various people. Which means a less-wiggy Rossi next GASP since I won't have that whole claustrophobic thing going on.

Glad that the pros are out-weighing the cons - I kept thinking that there had to be some sort of a catch involved somewhere. :)

So glad the new place is working out well. Especially the possums and the beach. Very cute, and very cool, respectively. :)
