Here's the obligatory "I'm alive and in another country in one piece" email.

I'm alive and in another country in one piece.

There was a fair amount of sleep had on the plane, and they remembered my vegetarian meals, which makes for a happy Rossi. They also enforce weight limits on carry on luggage these days, so my two rather hefty books and my toiletries bag got shunted into the backpack in exchange for the much lighter sleeping bag. Oh, and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]? Not actually your fault for making it look heavy. There was another weighing station on the other side of the Big Metal Door of Departing Doom. *pulls a face* Travelling's gotten a lot more finickety since last July.

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] picked me up at the airport and has provided a shower, copious amounts of water, and internet usage. As well as being my taxi service for most of the day. So we're all good.

Now I just have to stay awake for the rest of the day. *wry*

Phew!

Hi Jo,

Glad to hear you made it safe and sound. Not that I ever doubted!

As geography was never my strong point and I hated my teacher which added to the fact I never tried (Yes, Joanne, I had Mr Nun in Geography PUKE!)... His only asset: a really long ruler stolen from one of the students to wack my legs for showing sympathy to another fellow prison er I mean student.

Anyway my point, the most intense hurricane yet recorded is heading for Florida and I have no idea looking at my map of the world how far that makes where you are now from where it might hit. I think it might be the equivalent of southern Victoria vs. Central Australia so I guess that means you will be out of its path. Your Dad tells me there is nothing to worry about; that you are miles away from where it is expected to hit. I dare say the weather will be rainy and windy regardless. I hope the hurricane dies in the arse and no-one gets affected by it.

Take Care.
Love Aunty Lea.

Hi, Jo's Aunty Lea!

I don't know much about Australia's geography, so we'll trade a bit of knowledge. ^_^ Take the southern most corner of the west side of Australia (which I am told is roughly the same size as the continental U.S.) and call it California. Now take the southern most corner of the east side of Australia and call it Florida. That's how far Jo is currently away from any hurricanes that hit Florida.

Next, take the northernmost east corner of Australia and call it Toronto, Canada. That's how far away she'll be from Florida by Sunday (or Monday, your time).

In short, Jo's going to be fine. ^_^

So it wasn't just that woman being annoying, then? Bugger. Hope that's just Qantas and not Virgin as well...

Also, was chatting to Dan in the office yesterday, and apparently, after they got back, Sarah made a comment along the lines of "We've just lost fifty percent of our friends in St Kilda." I think she's missing you already... ;)

I'm very happy to hear that you made it safely. ^_^ And don't forget, I have a present just waiting for you, if you want it. *grins*
