And again, It Lives!

This is for all those people wanting me to check in once I landed safely in Canada. *waves* Hey, all, I'm here, I'm alive and I'm on Dex's computer in his room since we need to pick up a couple of cables before I get added to the network on mine. Of course, there were massive amounts of sleeping today, but yeah, slowly recovering my higher functions and all.
Any way, the last couple of days... A blur of people and laughter and tears and long car trips and talking, always talking. I don't have a lot to say about Ki's wake, other than I'm really glad I made it there, and her family are great people. There's also a lot of them. And I think Ki would have liked the fact the begnnings of new friendships were made - that whole connection thing again.
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] rock, since between them they drove me all over LA. The airport pick up and departures both went off without a hitch, even loaded down as I was. Did I mention I hate travelling with more than I can personally carry? There was a last minute gate change which meant I missed the initial boarding calls, but I made the plane and spent the next four hours alternately sleeping and reading. Oh, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], I'll need a snail mail addy to send your book back. It also came in very handy. :)
It's really weird, coming into a country and being told "Oh, you're immigrating. Go over to that place there." But yeah, despite the extra hoops, I got through customs and everything a lot faster than I expected. I had to wait to talk to the immigration official, but once I got to her, it went very quickly, especially since Scary Organised Girl had everything laid out and ready for signing etc, plus proof of funds. It boggles me how many of the other people there just didn't have what they needed there. My residency card should show up in the next week or so, I have to get various things in motion for health care cards and bank accounts and the rest, but that's tasks for this week once I've actually got a functioning brain. :P
[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] met me at the airport, and was singularly unimpressed by the luggage load. Or possibly my insistence that we'd be using a taxi, since the less I had to carry stuff, the better. Arrived safely, had dinner since I'd only eaten breakfast all day (due to the time difference, I left at 9:30, flew for four hours and arrived at 5:00pm. Plus took an hour to get out of the airport) and then wandered down to the Yellow Griffin. There was beer, and a few old faces, and then Johnny turning up and literally picking me up off the floor in a massive hug. When the bar closed we went back to Dex's place where he fed us, and then I got used as a pillow by two happy Canadian men. *grins* Nothing makes you feel more welcome than that, I can tell you.
Domestic stuff today. Shopping and the like. Oh, and Mum, your parcel arrived, and thank you so much for the scarves. The blue one's for Bryant, yes? 'Cause three is a bit much for one neck. ;) *hugs* They're warm and fuzzy and shall come in very handy indeed.
Okay, now for the email catching up. Let's hope I'm not too far behind.
