Best. Present. Ever.

Now I'm capable of something coherent instead of the lines and lines of "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" you would have gotten had I posted last night or even this afternoon, I shall tell you about the Best Gift Ever.
A few weeks ago, in the course of conversation, I mentioned to Johnny (of Screaming Demons fame) that I was interested in learning to play guitar sometime. We hadn't really gotten around to arranging something what with work and Christmas and all, so I wasn't really expecting what happened next.
Johnny comes into the pub last night about 1:30am bearing gifts, mainly CDs. Then he says he has to go out to get mine, and comes back with this enormous Christmas-paper-wrapped rectangular thing. I'm all confused and read the card as directed. There's something about being welcomed into the mysteries.
Hmm.
Then I get to opening the gift itself. There's a black case underneath the paper, of a type I've seen before mainly when Johnny's had a gig and needed to leave a guitar behind.
Hmm again. Also cue increasing heart rate as suspicions arouse.
I open the case. With help. Inside is a guitar. An electric/acoustic hybrid, tan-coloured, small enough for me to manage fine. Johnny's explaining it's one of his old ones that's been in the closet for ages, and that to learn guitar I need one of my own and that it'll doulbe nicely for acoustic and electric...
...and then he gets choked off as there's pouncing and squeeing and hugging breathless.
This has to be one of the most amazing presents EVER. Seriously. I love music, I've always wanted to learn an instrument but never got around to it, and Johnny has gone and made that possible. And she's a pretty little thing, too. I shall have to figure out what to call her once I get better acquainted.
So, yeah, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. My first instrument. Aren't you proud?

I have to concur with Aisy there.

Date: 2006-01-03 12:20 am (UTC)Very ;) And kudos to Johnny for a good choice of present - I was wondering what you were going to do for a guitar to practise on. 'Course this means that by the time I get over there for Dexcon next year I expect you to be able to run through a fair few tunes. I'll even count that as your promised karaoke session if you like ;)
