1. My username is deathpixie because:

Back when I first started going onto IRC with the #subcafe crew and we got to picture-sharing stage, the first picture I shared was from my karate club, where I was doing a rather nasty-looking wrist lock on my instructor for a demonstration. The initial response was, given the short hair at the time and the impish grin (I was having fun), "Oh my god, you look like a pixie!"

Then someone added: "Of DEATH!"

And thus the Pixie O' Death, or deathpixie was created as a secondary nickname/sign on for when IRC horfed. When I got an LJ, I was a bit iffy about the whole deal, so instead of using my more widely known handle of "Rossi", I used the deathpixie one instead, so people would at least have to work a little to find me.


2. My journal is titled 'Itchy Feet' because:

I'm a travel nut. I love going places, moving on, not staying anywhere for more than a few years. Hence the itchy feet. ;)

3. My subtitle is "Journal of a Travel Addict" because:

Pretty obvious, given the explanation above. ;)

4. My friends page is called "Some of my friends are very fruity indeed" because:

It's a quote from a Whitlams song "You Sound Like Louis Burdett". If you're coming to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], chances are you'll hear it. It makes perfect sense when you do. ;)

5. My default userpic is an open road because:

I found this icon on [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and snaffled it straight away, because it pretty much encapsulated the whole 'Itchy Feet' thing. It also reminds mind of driving through the Joshua Tree National Park in New Mexico, one of my favourite parts of Walkabout.

See, there's a tonne of Whitlams songs that aren't depressing in any way at all. And while I appreciate the feedback of being part of a plot so powerful it still makes you cry to hear the songs, I wish you'd trust me when I tell you there's other songs out there.

Melbourne, for example. It's a sweet little love song about a girl in my home city. ;)

Ohno! No, I know that, sweetie. It's actually to the point where the lead singer's voice and the chords they lean on make me cry. Since I was listening to the song(s) while reading; they sort of ingrained themselves.
