Last week we had a work Christmas party. It was okay, lots of lawyers drinking all the wine and the assistants standing around awkwardly and setting/cleaning up. I had my counselling appointment and ditched early.

Today we had another work Christmas party. This was the "just us" one, where people could bring their kids and Vera, my new off-sider, dressed up as a very short, fabulous, Santa in stiletto heeled boots. The food was less good this time around (pizza from soem generic place), but I enjoyed myself far more because I wasn't standing around awkwardly. And I made good by doing the dishes, since last week I abandoned everyone to clean up. I even survived the small children, among whom I'm genuinely out of my depth, mostly because I don't have anything much to do with them these days.

Now, hopefully, I'm off to go do a spot of Christmas shopping (for the family, since I'm already late for the postage, eep). Hopefully inspiration for the brother and his wife will strike between now and Yonge Street.

Later I brave the supreme in awkwardness, which is a singles Christmas party at the Griffin. Pray for me. *meeps*
