Or at least apparently I can't actually not be here, since the world collapses, civilisations fall and Purolator goes insane and doesn't do what they've done for me for the past year.

I've been playing clean-up all morning. I foresee a talk from Jane tomorrow about how she's unhappy that she didn't have this week's files ready last week, and she'll be perfectly justified - sick or not, I dropped the ball badly. Vera's been a trooper and grabbed me something to eat, and I've already had one very large Coke this morning.

Yep, welcome back to the world, me. Can I go home again and hide?

Edit: Oh, and I have counselling today, so I'm working through lunch. Sure I can't go home?

*hugs* The thing about life is that you can rarely plan for all of it.

I'll be honest, the moment you used the phrase 'sick or not' I went 'Bwha?' Sick is sick, usually it means your brain tends to shut down most other functions in order to concentrate on getting better. It's why you're usually better off at home and not near anything requiring higher function.

I've read your further lj post, so I know Jane wasn't Disappointed at you. The fact that you thought she would be makes me want to noogie you though. Any boss who gives their worker shit for looking after their health, is not a boss to be working for.

The "sick or not" was referring more to the three days I was here, and didn't get files prepped like I should have done. She should have had them ready when she came in last week, instead of a courier job needing to be done at the last minute: it's my job to make sure it's done. I dropped the ball because a) I was sick but still at work and b) I got distracted by an XP shitstorm and let that be the priority, not the job I'm paid to do.

*nods* Okay, that makes more sense. Yes, paid work before hobbies is a good idea. :) What I'd suggest though is perhaps doing up a list of all the things you do regularly in a week and perhaps a day beside each of when it needs to be finished by.

That way, not only do you have a list to refer to yourself but you've also got something you can give someone next time your sick, and also somethng to refer back to if you should ever need to train up a new person.

I was goofing off, essentially, and then Drama happened and distracted me even more. *wry*

And the list is a good idea, but doesn't really work in terms of having a set day to do things by. Basically, Jane comes in once a week, sometimes once every two weeks, and it's never a regular set day of the week. On those days, she gives me the files she's used in the previous amount of time, and then takes away all the files she's going to need for court cases happening between now and the next time she comes in. So I have to get them prepared before she comes in. Which normally I have no issue doing, except when I'm not sure how far ahead I'm prepping. So a general "prep Jane's files for court" is about as good a reminder I can do, which I'll set on my Outlook now for Monday mornings.
