The Libs have been against saying sorry all along, using various excuses. The bit that people were turning their back on was when he started talking about the fact that taking children away is sometimes a good thing considering the alcohol abuse and such in the Aboriginal community at the moment.
Now, I do believe that if a child isn't safe in a home, they should be taken and placed in a safe situation but possibly not the best place to be talking about these issues when you're apoligising for previous Australian Governments buggering off with people's children for no other reason then race. It's a real big hot button and he should have known better.
