Sleepy Sundays...
Oct. 28th, 2001 06:22 pmGah, daylight savings always throws me off. I slept in to what should have been nine-thirty, but thanks to daylight savings, it was in fact eight-thirty. At least I don't have work tomorrow - extra time to readjust.
I've been sorta productive today. Didn't go anywhere, mainly because it started raining this afternoon as i was planning a MTB ride, but I did get some more gardening done, planting the pennyroyal under the hot water heater and weeding various beds and dead-heading the rose bush. It's gone ballistic, that rose bush, with flowers and new growth all over the place.
I also managed not one but two RR posts. Well, those are kinda destructive in their way, since they belong to the Halloween Massacre(s), and at least one involved brutally killing friends and acquaintances, but they needed doing and have been done. I'm off the hook for another day at least - I just hope I'm not messing with too many plans here.
I'm thinking I might go have a bath - my shoulders are stiff with sitting at the dining room table with the Book, and my feet are dirty from wandering around barefoot in the garden. One of the things I love about summer, and having grass - no shoes. When I was a kid, we used to go barefoot all summer, and it was always a kind of jail to put our school shoes on again at the start of a new school year. Mine have lost a lot of the karate calluses, but they're still pretty tough from years of running around with no shoes on.
I also ran through the Bassai Dai kata in my back yard, to see if I remembered it. A bit notchy, but I did. The weird thing about karate on grass is that I tend to grip onto the ground and so tear up little holes when I turn. So then I have to fill in my divots, like a golfer. There's some space on the back patio, but not enough for Bassai Dai. Maybe Tensho, possibly Naifanchi, but definitely not Bassi Dai. Not with the crescent kick.
