So, the weekend has been survived, with more time spent out in the world than I have for a bit. Which is good for me, humidity notwithstanding.
Last week at work was as busy as all the other weeks (and today), but there is light at the end of the library tunnel and the work I've been doing since April/May is looking to be done in the next month or so. I've been staggering home on average about an hour later than I should, but again, racking up the brownie points with Sonia and putting the whole absentee issue behind me (well, apart from Wednesday where I was so exhausted and headachey from the storms we've been getting, I wasn't going anywhere).
Friday I joined Dex and Aisy down at the St Lawrence market for a wander and to get some yummy cheese and olives, followed by dinner at Che What. Definite a comfy place to relax in, complete with board games for those with more functional brains than we had that day. ;)
Saturday Dex wanted to go shopping to get his new iPod Touch. Aisy was sick, so we didn't bother with the movie, and Dex and I spent the afternoon downtown, investigating book stores and such. I bought books! For the first time in ages, I bought books, and didn't feel guilty about it (since they were all second hand and cheap). I wound up with The Zombie Survival Handbook by Max Brooks (I have World War Z already), The Last Watch which is the last of the Night Watch books and two The Sandman trades, 9 and 10. I only need 5 and 8 to make up the set now and after that, the re-reading begins. :)
Sunday was the Telfer family picnic, in a park in Brampton. The usual food, bocce and a bunch of people talking - good stuff. I also ate KFC for the first time in 20 years - yeah, not going to be a regular habit due to the grease factor, but the breading is as addictive as ever. Sunday even was quiet, spent reading and Wiki-ing and generally trying to not overheat.
Time away from the computer, and doing stuff for myself (like book buying) was definitely needed. I'm also back on the B12, to avoid repeat episodes of blah-ness and I'm already noticing an increase in my energy levels. I guess even removing the cause of the B12 deficiency wasn't enough. Bah.
