Gnar. Brains.
Mar. 10th, 2010 12:17 pmDefinitely of the zombified today. We haven't had a band night like that in a while (considering I haven't been for a couple of weeks due to counselling aftermath especially).
I'm also wearing my glasses due to my lack of buying contact lenses yet and my eyes basicallly going "Screw that" by the end of last night and demanding I trash the ones I'd been wearing for far too long. So far the responses have been that I look like:
1) Ghandi.
2) A librarian.
Yeah, so, guess who's going to be looking at new glasses after pay day next week? [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], love, your tasteful opinion (and working vision) will be requred in order to nail it down out of the four we chose last time. I'll even make sure my hair is decent this time.

Date: 2010-03-10 05:37 pm (UTC)And I've had "school marm" in the past as well, so yeah, I'm guessing my glasses aren't exactly hot and stylish. Especially since the ex was the one who picked the frames for me last time. ;)

Date: 2010-03-10 09:26 pm (UTC)Also, dudette, the awesome thing about glasses is that when you wear them all the time, is that the frames wear out every year or two. And then you get new ones. Seriously, when you go to the Canadian equivilent of specsavers, you can get cheap(ish) glasses so you're out about $100-ish dollars ever year or two. Which totally makes it worth it because you get a new look and glasses - nice ones - are hot. And they mean you don't have to do as much eye makeup and things, if you're inclined to do that every day, because you've already got a focus around your eyes that does roughly what the makeup would have done. (And, did I mention, nice glasses are hot?)
(And I'm not just saying all this because I need a new prescription every year or two and, honestly, frames + lenses cost what frames alone would at a more expensive place.)

Date: 2010-03-10 09:36 pm (UTC)Since I don't have four heads, I do have to pick one of the four, but yes, will definitely work on wearing them more often - the reason I do contacts so much is because I hate my current (and actually, every damn pair since I was diagnosed as myopic) glasses with a passion. Having Lauren help me find a pair of hot ones is a step towards accepting the whole bespectacled thing.
Also, I have health insurance. Yay for having a good percentage of the cost covered!

Date: 2010-03-10 09:42 pm (UTC)Hmm, I know your current pair and can I just say that I really admire you for sticking with them for so long, even though you hated them? I'm also thinking, frameless glasses (http://www.geekeyeglasses.com/bvlgari-eyeglasses/bvlgari-1011t-eyeglasses-are-like-lenses-on-a-stick) might really work on you, since they're almost not there so the visual effect of them is limited. (But maybe not that exact pair - the lenses are too large.)
And, if it helps, people really think glasses are awesometown at the moment, so there's this move for people who CAN see without them but could use a very minor script to get them, as well, because they look good.

Date: 2010-03-10 09:48 pm (UTC)To be honest, half the time I was too broke to buy a new pair and the other half I forgot I should? But yeah, really sick of them now and I'd like the option of being able to wear them when my eyes are too whatever for contacts without looking like an old bald man in a nappy. ;)

Date: 2010-03-10 09:52 pm (UTC)I completely understand that, by the way - I'm only getting new glasses this year because my script has changed enough that I really, really shouldn't be driving in my sunglasses - they're quite possibly three scripts out of date by now and they wanted $170 for new lenses in the old frames so I decided that I could do another $30 and got a 2 pairs for $199 deal where they somehow do it all massively discounted.
I think that if I wore contacts or didn't need a new script every year anyway, I'd be less willing to get new ones ever 18 months.
