Things and Stuff
Jan. 28th, 2011 11:21 am1) Last Saturday I went out shopping with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and Mindy for work clothes as part of my Christmas gift from them (and Johnny). I came out of it with oodles of new stuff - two pairs of pants, a skirt, four tops, three bras and a pair of shoes - all of which a) fits, b) looks great and c) will see me through for a while. As I've been wearing them this week and having people remark on them, I've been so grateful to the two of them you can't believe.
2) I had French class this morning. I can't explain why exactly, but I always come out of there feeling happy.
3) I'm getting sushi for lunch today. Mostly because it's been a Week and I need to treat myself.
4) I think I'm going to spend Saturday dusting off the story I'm going to rehabilitate for the Whedonverse Big Bang. And possibly finishing 52 Pick Up, since Rob's mum is asking for a new 'book' by her favourite 'author'. The plan is to find somewhere comfy and possibly with natural light and no wireless, so I can actually focus and not be distracted by stuff.
5) Someone on OKCupid complimented me yesterday. Not on my looks, but on my ability to write. It made me happy. Also, I'm really needing to work on expanding the social circle, since needing a break from the Internet without one is really boring. And lonely. And kind of exacerbates the issues I'm having that required the break in the first place.
6) Butter chicken dinner at Mindy and Johnny's place on Sunday. Huzzah! Mindy makes the best butter chicken in the entire world.

Date: 2011-01-28 04:54 pm (UTC)Maybe a once a week 'five good things' might be a good cognitive-behavior-therapy exercise. Keep you in a positive state of mind, and break the cycle of depression and anxiety. There's a cycle - sort of a 'I'm so anxious, I want to do this thing that might help but I'm anxious about it, I can't stop thinking about my anxiety, I talk about my anxiety a lot because it's so present in my mind, now I'm MORE anxious." cycle that happens (for both anxiety and depression) - there's some 'just do it' theories about breaking that cycle, and some schools of thought that suggest that forcing yourself to be positive and get out of that cycle can be really beneficial in breaking it.

Also, butter chicken, oh god.
