Considering Independence Day is strictly an American holiday, other countries don't tend to celebrate it.

It really is, ugh. If they wanted to ask if your country even has an Independence Day of its own to celebrate, they could've phrased it a whole lot better.

Being Canadian I don't celebrate it at all, but I will likely play Springsteen's song Independence Day later just because. That's more because I'm a Springsteen fan though. XD

Other countries have won their independence and celebrate it.
The 4th. of July in the USA is NOT the only Independence Day.

But that's not what the question is asking. It's asking, "how do you celebrate Independence Day", not "how do you celebrate _your country's_ independence day?" See the difference?

Plenty of countries that have won their independence have one, y'know. Not just Americans. :)

Not all of them on July 4, tho'. And not all of them are called Independence Day.

It's like me asking "how you you celebrate Australia Day?". I understand they might be asking a more general question, but as [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] said, they could have phrased it a lot better.

yeah, we have two independence days (kinda) - freedom from Sweden and freedom from Nazis, but we don't celebrate either of them. I mean, not really.

How do you celebrate your country's Constitution Day? :p

Actually, we don't really celebrate Federation (which is January 1, when we went from being a bunch of separate states and became Australia). Mostly because it's on New Year's Day and it's already taken up with hangover recovery. We have two big national days:

Australia Day, which is January 26, is the day that the First Fleet landed with the first load of settlers and convicts, all ready to create a new colony. Since it's in the middle of summer, it's celebrated with BBQs and outdoor parties, citizenship ceremonies and concerts. Fireworks, sometimes, but not always and not everywhere.

The other big national day is Anzac Day, which is our particular Memorial/Veterans' Day. It's the anniversary of the landing of the Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) on Gallipoli Beach in Turkey - April 25. Lots of marches and memorial ceremonies, plus pubs and two-up.

I was mostly joking with that question, in case that wasn't clear, as Constitution Day is what Norwegians celebrate, so, you know,that would be the Norwegian-centric way of phrasing the question.

BUT BBQs and concerts is an A+ way of celebrating, in my opinion! Do you have Australia Day celebrations in Canada? Presumably not with outdoor parties, but...

I know Norwegians abroad do have Constitution Day celebrations, though how they celebrate tend to depend on where they are.
