Yep, it's CBFFA ceremony time again! Mike has posted the first section to OTL, and I wanted to get in early and congratulate [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] for her well-deserved Best New Writer award. *showers her with flowers and confetti, the sparkly kind* Well done, Bounce-Girl, I knew you'd get it. :)

And yes, it's quiet at work today - why else would I be in OTL? *grins*

I've just updated my Netscape (from Communicator V. 4.5 to V. 7, quite a jump!) and I've been playing around with the new and shiny format. People's LJ's look pretty good, and the ultimate test, of course, will be if I can post/reply without those weird random characters appearing. Hence this post. :)

And it looks like I'll actually be able to set up spam (and other) filters. Spam used to be the bane of my existence, although I will admit it's rather abruptly dried up - perhaps my complaint to Optus about being deluged with it almost immediately after setting up an account with them hit home. Either way, I have a new toy and lots to play with. *grins*

Work was the usual. I managed to leave a bit early, on account of doing overtime yesterday because I had a moron turn up at the front counter (I was on counter duty yesterday) at 5.10pm yesterday, technically ten minutes after we'd closed. We're still trying to work out how he got past the automatically locking door. Apparently this berk turns up about once a month, trying out each staff member in a futile effort to rort the system - he's been spinning the same bullshit story about a trust fund maturing at Christmas time that will allow him to pay his fine off in full for three years. I'm not sure which particular Christmas he means. I wouldn't play ball, so off he went, eventually.

And I have to say I've had better rides home. I know we're having a drought and rain is Of The Strong, but did it have to bucket down just as I was leaving? I have wet cycling gear hanging up all over the bathroom.

Ooh, and a nifty piece of news on the ABC tonight. New South Wales is looking at trialing the medical use of marijuana. A big "amen!" from this particular court clerk, and, I'm guessing, a fair proportion of the judiciary. We had at least three regular 'customers' at Wodonga, people who had either back injuries or illnesses that didn't respond to traditional pain killers and so grew their own dope for strictly personal use. It was ridiculous, really - they got fined, scraped together the money to pay it, and then showed up again in a month or two, for the same reason and got fined again. They weren't hurting anyone, and it was the only thing that would give them relief - if it had been available on prescription, like morphine is (and that's a lot more dangerous than marijuana!), there wouldn't have been a problem at all.

*shakes head* And people wonder why I didn't join the police force when I graduated.

Every time I tried this quiz my browser crashed, so now I have a new browser, I decided to try again. The results were... interesting. ;)
