INFOSEEK: Word selection issues

Alvin's done it again. For some reason, in Word, whenever he tries to point and click on a part of a document, he winds up selecting entire paragraphs instead of moving the cursor. I can't work out what he's done - obviously he's hit something on the keyboard by accident to turn this on and I can't find out what it was - and I'm not going to retype every email he does. Help?

Edit: I swear to god I'm going to smash that computer of his - Sonia went in to look at it and it's fine now. Arghgkanweoiashdnflwh.

That happened to me this morning.

Email to IT: Hey, you berks! The web approval process is down and I can't get even an error message when I refresh the page!

Two minutes later, page pops up. Interminably slow.

Second email: Belay the last. Now web approval process is incredibly slow. Did we swap out our servers for a Commodore 64 with a cassette drive while I was not looking?

Two minutes later, productivity resumes.

Four hours later, IT calls "Yeah, I got your emails about a problem with the web app process?"

Me: BERKS!

I have a loathe/hate relationship with half the IT department.
